Standards, practices, and defaults

I feel like this needs to be a section in my garden. I’ve done this in the past and it feels like there’s just…something here.

Questions to answer

• How do we do this (meaningfully, inclusively, in a way that engenders enthusiasm?)
• What do we need?
• How do we make the hard parts (maintenance, stewardship) easier?
• How do we stop these crumbling to dust?

A decision record is just that, a record of a decision. Based on Architecture Decision Records, which are specifically to record an import decision w.r.t. architecture of a system.

A decision is, handily, split into the following bits:

• Name
• Context and problem statement
• Considered options
• Decision outcome
  • Optionally, consequences
• Pros and cons of the options
• Optionally, more information
